Château de Rochemorin Red 2018

Château de Rochemorin | Red

AOC Pessac-Léognan

Présentation

Château de Rochemorin belonged to the great philosopher and writer Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu, in the 18th century. Among other famous works, he was the author of the "Persian Letters". Montesquieu was a fine ambassador for the red wines of Rochemorin among his friends, acquaintances and the notables he met during his trips throughout Europe, never forgetting to praise the beautiful complexity and mineral characteristics of his wine, so typical of the Graves terroir. Its beautiful aromatic expression, accompanied by a well-balanced and elegant palate make this one of the most reliable wines in the appellation, while remaining very affordable.

Dégustation

Beautiful, deep ruby-red colour.
Richness and complexity are the watchwords here! The initial impression on the nose is of mocha, vanilla, and liquorice aromas due to barrel ageing. Swirling in the glass reveals a delicious combination of perfectly ripe black and red fruit notes (blackcurrant, Morello cherry).
Starts out very smooth on the palate. The sweetness of this wine serves as a testimony to high-quality, perfectly ripe grapes. Its richness mid-palate contributes superb volume, underpinned by fine, well-integrated tannins on the finish. Great length. This 2018 Rochemorin has excellent ageing potential.

90/100

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Aromatic nose reminiscent of stewed elderberries and blackcurrants, discreet spiciness and hints of vanilla. On the palate well structured with ripe tannins, sweet fruit and mild spices, very pleasant on the palate.
