Conditions météorologiques

2016 was one of the finest vintages in the past 20 years. Winter was exceptionally wet and mild, and it rained a great deal in spring until June. However, the weather changed radically in mid-June, turning warm and quite dry, with cool nights. Ideal conditions for growing excellent wine grapes!

Dégustation

This intense Cruzeau 2016 has a lovely dark red, almost garnet-red color, with discreet violet nuances.
The elegant, rich nose is dominated by empyreumatic aromas (toasted), harmoniously blended with notes of ripe red and black fruits (morello cherry...).
On the palate, this Cruzeau rouge 2016 is extremely pleasant and enjoyable. Supple on the attack, subtle balance, good length: its assets are numerous. You'll appreciate its beautifully blended tannins and notes of ripe red fruit, combined with a hint of light tobacco.

Dense and linear with a pretty finish of currants, crushed stones, cement and berries. Full-bodied, tight and tannic. Very attractive.

The 2016 De Cruzeau offers slightly smudged strawberry and blackberry fruit on the nose, laced with bay and wild heather. The palate is medium-bodied, quite sappy and nicely balanced. There is a ouch of simplicity toward the finish, but this straightforwardness is an attribute. Enjoy over the next 8 to 10 years.
