Conditions météorologiques

2020 was marked by very mild temperatures and contrasting precipitation: heavy spring rainfall was followed by an intense summer drought. The fairly mild winter led to early bud break. The summer heat gave way to cool nights in late August, ideal for ripening grapes.

Dégustation

Brilliant, with a nice pale yellow colour and some silver highlights.
The fine and very expressive nose exhales lively and tasty notes of citrus fruits (mandarin, grapefruit), but also of gooseberry.
On the palate, it is an elegant wine that marvellously combines power and freshness. It is creamy, dominated by delicate citrus notes (tangerine zest, lemon), but also fresh white fruit (granny apple, white peach), with a hint of spice. The finish combines more mineral notes (slate).

Very pretty green-mango and vanilla character to this, as well as hints of stones and spices. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a round texture and a medium, flavorful finish. Tangy.

Light yellow gold, silver reflections. Delicate grapefruit and fresh meadow herbs, nuances of gooseberry, yellow bell pepper. On the palate powerful, yet elegant and creamy, fine white fruit of apple and peach, finessed acidity structure, mineral-citric finish, notes of ginger and white pepper.

95/100

Bright yellow colour with green hue. Fine-spun aroma reminiscent of fresh tangerine and lemon zest, ripe nectarine and gooseberries. Hints of Buxus in the background. On the palate well structured with crisp acidity, fresh fruit, discreet spiciness and fine minerality, well balanced with good length.

Really starting to get into its stride under the new direction of Jacques Lurton. I have always enjoyed this wine and long found it to be the one of all the Andre Lurton wines to live up to the potential of the terroir. This is full of flesh, lemongrass, lime, slate minerality, the most beautifully judged rich white peaches and powerful dried herbs. Rice and powerful, good stuff. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030.

Château Couhins-Lurton

Château Couhins-Lurton

Château Couhins-Lurton is the smallest of our family estates, but also the smallest of the Graves Crus Classés. Nestled on a unique clay-limestone terroir, it gives birth to Sauvignon Blancs of great minerality and to greedy, fruity Merlots. Thanks to their good acidity and low pH, these white and red wines stand out for their freshness and exceptional ageing potential, true signatures of great Bordeaux wines.
